The Council for Regional Cooperation has presented the winners of the fifth online competition of the Western Balkans for the best digital solutions.<\/p>\n
From 80 applications, the jury selected seventeen finalists, who competed by presenting their digital solutions in front of the expert jury.<\/p>\n
The award ceremony was opened by Majlinda Bregu, General Secretary of the RCC and Andrea Ferrero, Head of the Section for Economic and Social Development of the Delegation to the European Union in Albania.<\/p>\n
“Years ago during the uncertain period of the pandemic, when the world was just adjusting to a new reality, the questions of What can we do? What can we create what problem? People with different skills and perspectives from across the region together encouraged collaboration on digital ideas. You have the power to make a difference not only in your life, but in the lives of everyone around you. This is the time to bring great things and for that you need courage,” said Bregu.<\/p>\n
The awards for digital ideas were given to Kosovo, which created the health clinic platform enabling patients to book online consultations with doctors, saving time and overcoming distances.<\/p>\n
For Montenegro, the award was given for the digital idea for the on-demand taxi service. While other awards were given to Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia.<\/p>\n
“Advanced technologies are used to create innovations and solve problems, not to create new ones,” said Bregu.<\/p>\n
In addition to these prizes, which were awarded with 7 thousand euros each, three other special prizes were awarded, which went to Albania, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n
The Balkathon competition, launched in 2020 and funded by the European Union, is the initiative of the Council for Regional Cooperation aimed at empowering young innovators from the region. So far it has resulted in nearly 400 entries, 22 winners and 22 new digital products.<\/p>\n
