The political groups in the European Parliament have agreed on how the rapporteurs for the countries of the Western Balkans will be distributed.<\/p>\n

As European Western Balkans informs, it has been decided that the Rapporteurs for Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo will be from the European People’s Party (EPP), the largest group in the EP, while the Rapporteurs for Albania and Serbia will come from the group of socialists.<\/p>\n

It is further learned that an MEP from the “Renew Europe” group will take the position of Rapporteur for Montenegro, and the Rapporteur for North Macedonia will be a representative of the Greens group.<\/p>\n

The names of the new Rapporteurs are expected to be known by the end of the year. The rapporteurs of the European Parliament, among other things, are responsible for the drafting of annual reports on the situation in EU candidate or aspirant countries.<\/p>\n

While writing the report, they may consult with relevant experts and other interested parties.<\/p>\n

They are also responsible for the drafting of the so-called “compromise amendments” in the Draft Reports and the conduct of the negotiations, designated by the other parliamentary groups.<\/p>\n

The reports drawn up by the Rapporteurs are first approved by the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament and then debated and voted on in the plenary session.<\/p>\n
