Today, the former President of Albania has been arrested by request of Prosecutor\u2019s Office (SPAK).<\/p>\n

Spak has listed the charges for which Meta is suspected of having committed a criminal offense are also listed.<\/p>\n

The State Police has issued an official announcement regarding the arrest of former President Ilir Meta.<\/p>\n

In its statement, the State Police states that the use of force to escort the former President was imposed by his forceful opposition to the implementation of the court decision that was communicated to him by Police employees.<\/p>\n

Police Announcement:<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the obligation to the public opinion regarding the way of accompanying the citizen I.M., we clarify that:<\/p>\n

The State Police has taken for execution the decision of the Special Court Against Organized Crime and Corruption (GJKKO), at the request of the Special Prosecution for the arrest of citizen I.M, 55 years old.
\nFor the implementation of this decision, the State Police has taken operational measures, according to the procedures provided by the Regulation.<\/p>\n

At around 13:15, the State Police received information and then found that in the place called “Kthesa e Kamza”, in the area of \u200b\u200bLapraka, the citizen I.M was traveling in a vehicle in the direction of Tirana.<\/p>\n

At this moment, the vehicle was stopped and the leader of the operational group communicated to citizen I.M. the court’s decision on the security measure “Arrest in prison” and asked him to get out of the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Citizen I.M. reacted in a rejecting and contradictory manner and uttered insulting words towards the representatives of the Police and Justice.<\/p>\n

Based on the procedure provided by the Regulation, he was taken out of the vehicle and forcibly escorted.<\/p>\n

The State Police underlines that the use of force to accompany the subject was imposed by his forceful opposition to the implementation of the court decision that was communicated to him by Police employees.<\/p>\n
