Greek enterprises want to expand in Albania as well. Chambers of Commerce operating in the two countries are building bridges of cooperation to exchange ideas and investment opportunities.<\/p>\n
Greece has lost its position as a major investor in Albania. Until 2017, businesses with Greek capital invested up to 1 billion euros, but since the last decade, the stock has fallen by about 80%. The exit of some companies operating in the banking and telecommunication sectors has affected this result.<\/p>\n
However, interest has now returned and many enterprises from the neighboring country want to expand in Albania, mainly in areas such as tourism, energy, food and construction.<\/p>\n
This cooperation was also discussed in a forum held in Tirana, where the Chambers of Commerce and Industry sought to build new bridges of cooperation.<\/p>\n
Greek companies were among the first to invest in Albania after the 90s. But the global financial crisis, which highlighted Greece’s debt problems last decade, forced many companies to pull out of mostly small markets to cut costs.<\/p>\n
