The ship “Libra”, which transports migrants from Italy to Gjadri, is expected to arrive on Friday, to bring the next 8 refugees to the port of Shengjin. They were rescued south of the island of Lampedusa, Italy’s closest land to the African continent.<\/p>\n
The migrants are healthy men who come from countries considered safe – and to send them first to the center of Shengjin and then to that of Gjader, according to the agreement signed with Albania.<\/p>\n
On October 16, the first 16 migrants arrived in Albania, where 4 of them returned to Italy after a few hours, as they were minors, 2 due to health problems. The other part was sent from the camp in Shengjin to Gjardi, to return to Italy after 3 days. According to a Court of Rome, the countries of origin Egypt and Bangladesh, do not belong to the safe countries, based on a decision of the Court of the European Union.<\/p>\n
After this decision, there were strong debates in Italy, between the executive and judicial powers, to which the Government responded by enlarging the list of “safe countries” by law and keeping Egypt and Bangladesh in it.<\/p>\n
The opposition in Italy accuses Meloni of wasting money, since for one migrant alone, the costs to bring him to Albania are about 18 thousand euros. They demanded that Meloni pay this money from the pockets of her ministers.<\/p>\n
Another issue is that Italian officials and financiers have moved to the centers for migrants in Gjad\u00ebr and Shengjin.<\/p>\n
There are about 300 employees who have benefited from salary increases, 100 euro extra per day, not including food, accommodation and return tickets home.<\/p>\n
According to the data so far, the total cost for these employees is about 30,000 euros per day or 900,000 euros per month.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Meloni seems to continue with the implementation of the plan. “there is no going back, we move forward” was her answer when asked by the Italian media if the agreement could be considered a failure.<\/p>\n
As for the next 8 migrants who will touch the Italian soil in Albania, their journey has been kept secret, not sharing details.<\/p>\n
