The immigration section of the Rome court has referred to the European Court of Justice the issue of immigrants detained in the Gjader center in Albania, suspending the measure of the validity of the detention.<\/p>\n

The news is reported by the Italian media.<\/p>\n

The decision concerns the seven immigrants, Egyptians and Bangladeshis, who are already inside the Italian detention center for repatriation in Gjad\u00ebr. The immigration section of the Court of Rome made the decision this afternoon. The seven migrants will have to be returned and released to Italy pending the decision of the European Court of Justice.<\/p>\n

A previous court decision annulled the detention of the first 12 immigrants in camps built in Albania.<\/p>\n

After the court’s decision, the immigrants were transferred to a reception center in Bari, based on European law. Following this decision, the Italian government issued a legal decree revising the list of countries deemed safe for repatriation.<\/p>\n

A few days ago, seven young asylum seekers, three from Egypt and five from Bangladesh, were transferred to Albania within an accelerated procedure. One of them returned to Italy due to health problems found after the medical examination.<\/p>\n
