Prime Minister Edi Rama participated on Wednesday in the work of the Special Parliamentary Committee on Good Governance, Rule of Law and Anti-corruption where issues and challenges related to property were discussed, in the framework of the negotiations of Albania’s membership in the European Union.<\/p>\n
Rama emphasized that the commission will be permanent during the entire period of negotiations for Albania’s membership in the EU. According to him, the commission will be a key instrument for the advancement of this process.<\/p>\n
He described the commission as a “front of institutions that represent the three powers,” implying the importance of cooperation between the legislature, the executive and the judiciary.<\/p>\n
“At the moment the commission will be permanent in the assembly and a point of reference for the institutions and for the three powers, legislative, executive and judicial. This commission is an irreplaceable instrument for the process of membership and negotiations, because we go there as a front of institutions representing the 3 powers”, said Rama.<\/p>\n
He added that the commission will have an important role in implementing citizenship duties and fulfilling the conditions set by the EU for membership. Rama also referred to the ongoing challenges of the integration process and the need to meet them with care and commitment.<\/p>\n
“Many people and always, whenever there is a new initiative, stand up and say: now you remembered. We are not remembered now, but we have been remembered since the first day we took office. At every step of the way there are new challenges and on the other hand each step requires its own time and strength.<\/p>\n
To understand well, as long as our adaptation is the EU, there the volume of work to be done is not only much greater than the volume of work we do, but it is also non-negotiable. They say negotiations, but in fact they are not negotiations, they are homework that we have to do, because we have to enter their house and not they who have to enter our house. These are the rules and we are subject to these rules”, said Rama.<\/p>\n
