The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was invited to testify by the Special Prosecutor’s Office, announced the spokesman of his Government, P\u00ebparim Kryeziu.<\/p>\n
Through an article on Facebook, Kryeziu criticized the justice system for interfering in the election process.<\/p>\n
“In the last elections, there was a court decision, which made it impossible for [Kurti] to run in the election race on February 14, 2021, and now, through this invitation, an attempt is being made to influence the outcome of the 2025 elections,” he wrote without give more details.<\/p>\n
Radio Free Europe asked him what the case is about, but he did not answer.<\/p>\n
Parliamentary elections in Kosovo will be held on February 9 next year.<\/p>\n
In the primary elections, in 2021, Kurti was not allowed to run for deputy, as the Constitutional Court ruled that candidates, who in the last three years had a final court decision, cannot run.<\/p>\n
Kurti had such a punishment, because of the riots that happened in the Assembly of Kosovo while he was in the opposition.<\/p>\n
As prime minister, Kurti has on several occasions criticized the justice system, saying it is inefficient and slow.<\/p>\n
