A recent study by the BestBookers.com platform has revealed that Denmark is the European country where a house is bought the fastest. According to the data, a 100 square meter apartment in Denmark costs an average of 114 net salaries, or less than 10 years of savings. This puts Denmark at the top of the list for housing affordability in Europe.<\/p>\n
In second and third place on the list are Ireland and Sweden, where citizens need respectively 123 and 129 monthly salaries to buy an apartment.<\/p>\n
At the bottom of the list of countries included in the study are the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In these countries, an average wage earner needs to save 274 and 297 monthly salaries respectively, or 22 and 24 years to buy a 100 square meter apartment.<\/p>\n
In the Balkan region and neighboring countries, North Macedonia ranks better than Greece. In Macedonia, an employee with an average salary has to spend 215 salaries, or almost 18 years, to close a loan for a house. In Greece, this figure reaches 228 salaries, or about 19 years.<\/p>\n
Other countries in the region, such as Bosnia and Montenegro, require over 20 years of savings to buy an apartment. Slovenia also remains among the most expensive countries in the region.<\/p>\n
Although Albania was not included in this study, data from INSTAT show that the minimum wage in the country is 40,000 new lek. Meanwhile, the average price per square meter varies from over 60,000 ALL in the districts, to over 120,000 ALL in Tirana.<\/p>\n
In the capital, an apartment of 100 square meters costs on average 125,000 euros. With the minimum wage, a resident of Tirana will have to save 312 monthly wages, or over 25 years, to buy a house.<\/p>\n
While the report does not include other expenses such as food, clothing or health, thus making the analysis more theoretical than practical, it clearly reflects the challenges that citizens of different countries face in securing a shelter, as well as highlighting the huge gap economic income across Europe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
