The debut film \u201cHive\u201d from Kosovo-born filmmaker Blerta Basholli took home three awards at the Sundance Film Festival that concluded Tuesday night with a virtual ceremony.<\/p>\n
\u201cGrand Jury Prize\u201d, \u201cBest Director\u201d and the \u201cAudience Award\u201d, went to the empowering film, \u201cHive\u201d, which narrates the story of a woman from Kosovo, who alike her compatriots suffered the post-war consequences following the conflict with Serbia.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be rewarded by my favorite festival, has an indescribably importance to me. I want to share these awards with the whole team, the actors and especially with Fahrije Hoti, whom I hold dearly in my heart since the first moment I met her. She is an example to us all,\u201d the movie director, Blerta Basholli said during the ceremony.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have worked so hard to present this film to you, to the public and we are very honored. We want to dedicate this award to our beloved and beautiful country, Kosovo,\u201d said Ylli Uka, the film producer.<\/p>\n
The story is set back in 2005-2006, where a successful woman, after having lost her husband in the war, finds herself amid challenges on how to raise her children.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn fact, the plot is about the consequences of the war, but the story develops after the war, somewhere around 2005-2006. The message conveyed is quite powerful in this case, as we have this successful woman, whose husband is among the many man missing from the war in Kosovo, and now she has to work and survive to support her children. This path throws her many challenges which mainly come from the society where she is herself a part of. The message conveyed is about the empowerment of a woman, who lives and is surrounded by a not-so-friendly environment,\u201d said Blerta Basholli in an interview for Euronews Albania.<\/p>\n
