The Agency for Property Treatment (ATP) will continue reviewing property compensation cases until 2027, while the compensation process is expected to conclude by the end of 2028.<\/p>\n

Legal amendments to extend the deadline by three more years were approved in parliament with 78 votes in favor and one against, following a proposal by the Ministry of Justice.<\/p>\n

The initial 2015 law set a 10-year timeframe for completing the process, targeting a 2025 deadline. However, due to the high volume of cases and legal disputes, progress has been slower than anticipated.<\/p>\n

So far, ATP has executed 794 decisions, distributing a total of 7.8 billion lek in compensation. Additionally, 713 hectares of land, valued at 1.5 billion lek, have been allocated from the physical compensation fund.<\/p>\n

However, the number of executed decisions remains low, compared to the 26,000 pending applications submitted by former property owners. For the remaining years, the compensation fund amounts to 21.2 billion lek, which will be allocated over four budget years.<\/p>\n
