The President of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has decided to run on an open list in the city of Tirana for the parliamentary elections on May 11, 2025.<\/p>\n

The decision was announced through a statement from the Freedom Party, which confirmed that the coalition they will be part of is the “Democratic Party \u2013 Alliance for a Greater Albania” (PD-ASHM), with the Democratic Party as the leading force.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe leadership of the Freedom Party approved this Monday the decision of the Party President, Mr. Ilir Meta, to be a candidate for MP on the open list in the Tirana District, under the coalition \u2018Democratic Party \u2013 Alliance for a Greater Albania\u2019 in the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025,\u201d the Freedom Party\u2019s statement read.<\/p>\n

According to the announcement, this coalition will operate under the Democratic Party’s banner and will present a multi-member candidate list, which will be approved by Sali Berisha, the leader of the DP.<\/p>\n

This coalition will also include long-time DP allies Fatmir Mediu, Agron Duka, Nard Ndoka, Vangjel Dule, and Shp\u00ebtim Idrizi, along with several other parties. The Democratic Party has allocated eight MP seats for its allies, of which the Freedom Party of Ilir Meta has secured four guaranteed positions.<\/p>\n

According to sources, the secure list of the Freedom Party will include:<\/p>\n

  • Edmond Haxhinasto<\/li>\n
  • Erisa Xhixho<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Meanwhile, the Republican Party (PR) of Fatmir Mediu, the Union for Human Rights Party (PBDNJ) of Vangjel Dule, and the Justice, Integration, and Unity Party (PDIU) of Shp\u00ebtim Idrizi will each have one guaranteed MP seat in the coalition\u2019s list.<\/p>\n

    Meta has declared that this coalition will bring about a political rotation in the country and contribute to a new program aimed at stopping Albania\u2019s depopulation and improving living conditions for citizens.<\/p>\n

    In an audio message from pretrial detention, Meta stated that the coalition with the Democratic Party is historic and will lead to a major victory on May 11, overthrowing the current regime. He emphasized that the coalition\u2019s priority is developing a sustainable economy based on traditional values such as patriotism and family principles.<\/p>\n
