The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed today the European Union\u2019s Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, Peter Sorensen.<\/p>\n
In this first official meeting, he congratulated Sorensen on his new role and briefed him on the latest developments in the country and the steps toward forming institutions in the ninth legislature.<\/p>\n
According to a statement from the Government of Kosovo, the Prime Minister requested that Sorensen urge the EU to immediately lift what he described as unjust restrictive measures against Kosovo. He highlighted the contradiction within the EU, its fundamental values, and the reforms undertaken by the Government of Kosovo with strong public support. He pointed out that at a time when Kosovo is achieving its highest democratic progress\u2014also confirmed by international indices\u2014it remains subject to EU-imposed restrictive measures.<\/p>\n
“They discussed the EU-mediated dialogue process and the path forward. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the full and unconditional implementation of the Basic Agreement and the Ohrid Annex. Recalling the paramilitary attack in Banjska in September 2023 and the terrorist attack in Ib\u00ebr-Lepenc in November last year, he also stressed the ongoing threat posed by chief terrorist Milan Radoi\u010di\u0107 and his group to the country\u2019s security and the normalization of relations within the dialogue process. As long as Radoi\u010di\u0107 remains free in Serbia\u2014despite admitting guilt before Serbian authorities and facing a 160-page indictment from the Prosecutor\u2019s Office of the Republic of Kosovo\u2014he remains a serious obstacle.
