SPAK has issued an official statement this Thursday regarding the hacking of email accounts belonging to several of its prosecutors.<\/p>\n
According to the announcement, on March 12, 2025, SPAK received information about an illegal attempt to access the email addresses of its prosecutors.<\/p>\n
Following internal verifications, it was determined that only a few email accounts were affected, and the general IT system remained uncompromised. Attempts to access case files and the email account of SPAK\u2019s Head Prosecutor, Altin Dumani, also failed.<\/p>\n
A rapid investigation led by SPAK, with the support of the National Bureau of Investigation (BKH) and the Technical Expertise Unit, resulted in the arrest of two suspects within 24 hours\u2014one who carried out the breach and the other who distributed the obtained information.<\/p>\n
Authorities have seized the equipment and downloaded files, and warned that disclosure of the obtained data is prohibited.<\/p>\n
SPAK continues its investigation, suspecting that a structured criminal group may be behind the illegal cyberattack. Additional IT security measures have been implemented to protect sensitive data and maintain system integrity.<\/p>\n
So far, there is no evidence that the arrested individuals had any collaboration with SPAK\u2019s internal staff.<\/p>\n
Full Statement by SPAK:<\/strong><\/p>\n The Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime was informed on March 12, 2025, of an illegal hacking attempt targeting the email accounts of its prosecutors.<\/p>\n Thanks to security protocols, the internal systems of SPAK remain unaffected.<\/p>\n Verifications showed that only some email addresses were accessed, not the general IT infrastructure. The attackers obtained limited information without accessing any investigation files.<\/p>\n There was also a failed attempt to hack into the email account of Chief Prosecutor Mr. Altin Dumani.<\/p>\n Thanks to a thorough investigation conducted by SPAK, in collaboration with BKH and the Technical Expertise Sector, the illegal activity was uncovered, and two individuals were identified and arrested within 24 hours\u2014the hacker and the distributor of the information.<\/p>\n The equipment and files used during the breach were seized.
