Socialist Party leader Edi Rama held a campaign rally with supporters in Gramsh on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n
In his speech, Rama highlighted the judicial reform, which he said was made possible thanks to the Socialist Party, and praised its results\u2014particularly in bringing powerful politicians before the law.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Socialist Party is the only political force that, upon coming to power, handed over the “sword” of justice to the justice system itself.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe did what no other political force has done\u2014after taking power, we handed justice the sword of justice. Since 1912, justice was dependent on the government and its head. That sword used to hang in the prime minister\u2019s office\u2014my office today\u2014but it\u2019s no longer there because we have handed it over to the justice system,\u201d Rama said.<\/p>\n
He referred to Altin Dumani, head of the Special Prosecutor\u2019s Office (SPAK), saying that he and others like him were once powerless but are now pursuing justice despite political noise and smear campaigns.<\/p>\n
\u201cAltin Dumani and others were once unarmed. Those chasing them today are the swamp frogs croaking nonsense, trying to parade themselves before the people with fairy tales no one believes. Not long ago, these same people killed in broad daylight. They\u2019ve committed murders at various times, until they killed right beneath the windows of the Prime Minister\u2019s Office.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rama then drew a comparison with the past:<\/p>\n
\u201cCan you imagine if today protesters were killed under the Prime Minister\u2019s window, and Altin Dumani sent letters to three police chiefs, and I used my position to protect them\u2014and then went on TV and called the prosecutor a whore, like the swamp owl once did?\u201d he said, alluding to past political events and rhetoric.<\/p>\n
