The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) held its regular Presidency meeting today, where it addressed the latest political developments, the ongoing institutional deadlock, and current initiatives aimed at resolving the situation.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, PDK emphasized that the country is facing a deep institutional crisis due to what it described as the political irresponsibility of the winning coalition, which has failed to secure a parliamentary majority to form a functional government.<\/p>\n

PDK stressed the importance of considering all initiatives that aim to end the deadlock and restore institutional normalcy in Kosovo. Through its continued commitment to dialogue and cooperation with all political parties, PDK reaffirmed its readiness to contribute to finding a viable and lasting solution for all citizens.<\/p>\n

Prishtina, May 7, 2025 \u2013<\/em> The Democratic Party of Kosovo held its regular Presidency meeting today to discuss the latest political developments, the institutional gridlock, as well as current political proposals and initiatives.<\/p>\n

PDK considers the country to be in a deep institutional crisis, caused by the irresponsible behavior of the coalition that came first in the elections but, due to its lack of a parliamentary majority, continues to hold Kosovo hostage. In this situation, every initiative aimed at resolving the deadlock deserves to be heard and discussed.<\/p>\n

Since the conclusion of the February 9 elections, the Democratic Party of Kosovo has held meetings with all parliamentary political parties\u2014including Vet\u00ebvendosje, despite holding it primarily responsible for the current crisis. This engagement reflects our belief that dialogue and cooperation are the only path out of political crises and toward restoring institutional stability.<\/p>\n

As in the past, now and in the future, we will not shy away from any meeting that is in the public interest.<\/p>\n

In this spirit, we believe that the President of the Republic, as a non-partisan institution with a legitimate mandate, can take the necessary steps to convene a meeting with all parliamentary political entities. A comprehensive roundtable could be the right step toward resolving the institutional crisis.<\/p>\n

PDK remains committed and firmly believes that the best solution for the country is the formation of a new government composed of the parties that were in opposition during the previous term. A government that would stop institutional degradation, end Kosovo\u2019s international isolation, and implement development policies for all citizens, without distinction. With a jointly agreed list of national priorities, such a government would return Kosovo to the right path of development and Euro-Atlantic integration.<\/p>\n

At the same time, PDK calls on the VV\u2013GUXO\u2013Alternativa coalition to refrain from further abusing the constitutional right to nominate the Speaker of the Assembly and to accept the political reality. It should reflect, and avoid continuing to hold the state hostage for narrow party interests.<\/p>\n

Kosovo needs functional institutions as soon as possible. PDK remains committed to contributing to a democratic and constitutional process that leads to resolution.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
