In a press conference following the conclusion of the diaspora vote count, the head of Albania\u2019s Central Election Commission (CEC), Ilirjan Celibashi, stated that the commission’s platforms had been subjected to cyberattacks, which he claimed were organized and sophisticated.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can publicly confirm today that the CEC platforms\u2014starting with the one used for registering voters abroad\u2014have been targeted by cyberattacks. We are in communication with relevant institutions, including cybersecurity agencies, and legal proceedings are being pursued in each identified case,\u201d Celibashi said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccording to the information we have, some of these attacks were not carried out by amateurs, but were organized, sophisticated, and deliberate. They originated from outside Albania and are comparable to attacks seen in other countries during similar situations, such as France and Estonia,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Regarding the delivery of voting materials by DHL, Celibashi stated that the CEC has requested full documentation from the courier company detailing how the ballots were distributed to voters worldwide, including in Greece.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have asked DHL to provide all documentation that shows how the ballot distribution process was carried out globally, including in Greece. We will make this documentation available to the electoral subjects, who will then draw their own conclusions.
