Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Xhelal Sve\u00e7la, announced that on July 5, 2025, the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo was the target of a bomb threat, which security institutions have classified as a hybrid attack originating from Serbia.<\/p>\n
According to Minister Sve\u00e7la, the threat was made from a phone number registered in Serbia, specifically under the telecom company MTS, and the user has been identified as Lazar \u017divkovi\u0107, a Serbian citizen.<\/p>\n
\u201cRelevant security institutions treated this hybrid attack against Kosovo\u2019s institutions with the highest priority. It has been confirmed that the threat originated from Serbia. The phone number used is registered in Serbia and belongs to the telecom provider MTS. The number\u2019s user is, or was, the Serbian citizen Lazar \u017divkovi\u0107,\u201d Sve\u00e7la wrote.<\/p>\n
Initial investigations revealed that several profiles linked to this number used the image of war criminal Ratko Mladi\u0107, connecting the case to extremist and anti-Kosovo circles.<\/p>\n
The acting minister emphasized that Kosovo\u2019s institutions are treating the case with high priority and will seek international support to arrest and bring to justice those responsible for the threat.<\/p>\n
\u201cAttackers and those issuing threats from within Serbia, regardless of the Serbian state\u2019s support, will not escape responsibility,\u201d Sve\u00e7la declared.<\/p>\n
Separately, the Kosovo Police also confirmed yesterday that the bomb threat call to the Assembly building came from a suspected Serbian number.<\/p>\n
\u201cInvestigations are ongoing in full coordination with the competent prosecution office and international security partners, aiming to localize the threat\u2019s origin and identify the communication tools and networks used,\u201d the police statement read.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Arben Loshi, deputy to the Secretary General of the Assembly, stated that the threat was made by someone speaking in English.<\/p>\n
