{"id":80580,"date":"2025-10-01T18:40:16","date_gmt":"2025-10-01T16:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=80580"},"modified":"2025-10-01T19:16:31","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T17:16:31","slug":"albania-keeps-rates-unchanged-amid-steady-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/albania-keeps-rates-unchanged-amid-steady-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"Albania Keeps Rates Unchanged Amid Steady Growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Governor of the Bank of Albania, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Gent Sejko<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, announced on Wednesday that the Albanian economy is showing stable performance, leading the central bank to keep the base interest rate unchanged at <\/span><span class=\"s1\">2.5%<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">According to Sejko, economic growth forecasts remain positive despite challenges in international markets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s3\">\u201cEconomic growth is expected to be between 3.5% and 3.7% for both 2025 and 2026,\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> he said, adding that sectors linked to imports are expanding, while export-oriented industries are slowing down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Regarding inflation, the Governor stated that it is expected to return to the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">3% target<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> during the first half of 2026. Currently, inflation stands slightly higher at <\/span><span class=\"s1\">2.4%<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, driven mainly by rising rental prices and stabilizing oil prices, while food prices continue to decline.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Another focus for the Bank of Albania is reducing the use of cash and advancing digital payments. Starting from <\/span><span class=\"s1\">October 7<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">SEPA system<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> will be implemented, significantly lowering transfer fees both domestically and in euros.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s3\">\u201cWe are working toward formalizing the economy.
