The year <\/span><span class=\"s1\">2024<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> also recorded a rise in new cases and more hospitalizations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The data was made public by the newly appointed head of the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Institute of Public Health (ISHP)<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Dorina To\u00e7i<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, on the occasion of <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Pink October<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the month of breast cancer awareness. She noted that despite the rising number of patients, the good news is that there has been no increase among younger age groups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s3\">\u201cIn 2024, based on the National Cancer Registry, 805 cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in women. Incidence has been rising, with the most at-risk age group being 50\u201370 years,\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> To\u00e7i said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">She also underlined that breast cancer does not spare men:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s3\">\u201cThere were 10 cases of breast cancer in men during 2024. Of course, it affects men as well, though much more rarely than women,\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> she stressed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Health specialists emphasize the importance of <\/span><span class=\"s1\">early detection<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> as the key to improving survival rates. Throughout the past year, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">25,000 women across the country underwent mammography screenings<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, with 50 of them discovering they had breast cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Doctors are urging women to perform regular <\/span><span class=\"s1\">self-examinations<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, as well as periodic <\/span><span class=\"s1\">ultrasounds and mammograms<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> after the age of 50.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Breast cancer continues to increase the number of women affected year after year.
