With the same determination with which he joined the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) in 1998 in Koshare, he has now decided to defend the just war of that army once again.
\nKLA veteran Agim Pllashniku, who fought in Koshare, the Dukagjini Zone, and later in Llap, is marching on foot from Zahir Pajaziti Square in Pristina to Adem Jashari Square in Tirana. He will then join the nationwide protest on October 17 at Sk\u00ebnderbej Square in defense of the former KLA leaders currently on trial in The Hague.<\/p>\n
Pllashniku says he is undertaking this march because he believes in the innocence of the KLA leaders and in the fabrication of the charges against them.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must defend those liberators. They are freedom fighters accused by Belgrade and Serbia. The indictments are fabricated by Serbia, which wants to punish them. But they cannot be punished \u2014 they are liberators. Therefore, we must show that we stand in their defense,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
According to Pllashniku, every Albanian must defend the just war of the KLA, because, as he says, any eventual conviction of its leaders would not only be a punishment for them but for all Albanians.<\/p>\n
The veteran explains that he is carrying out this march voluntarily and on his own strength, as he has long been stripped of his veteran\u2019s pension and dismissed from his job \u2014 a situation he blames on the ruling party.<\/p>\n
Pllashniku is currently facing trial in Pristina, accused of threatening caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti through social media.
\nNevertheless, this has not deterred the former KLA fighter, who remains determined to reach Tirana in time for the protest. He has also made a public appeal for others to join.<\/p>\n
Agim Pllashniku expects that the protest, to be held on October 17 at Sk\u00ebnderbej Square, will be one of the largest ever seen.
\nHe joined the KLA in 1998, serving under the command of Xheladin Gashi \u2013 \u201cCommander Plaku\u201d, fighting alongside many comrades \u2014 some still alive, and many others who fell for f<\/p>\n
