{"id":80862,"date":"2025-10-16T18:02:42","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T16:02:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/?p=80862"},"modified":"2025-10-16T19:18:28","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T17:18:28","slug":"gender-diversity-removed-from-draft-law-albanias-interfaith-council-reacts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/euronews.al\/en\/gender-diversity-removed-from-draft-law-albanias-interfaith-council-reacts\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cGender Diversity\u201d Removed from Draft Law \u2014 Albania\u2019s Interfaith Council Reacts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"143\" data-end=\"472\">The Interfaith Council of Albania has \u201cthanked the ruling majority, the opposition, and the media for their stance regarding the draft law on gender equality,\u201d following the decision to amend the much-debated proposal by removing the concept of \u201cinclusive\u201d gender definitions and recognizing only two genders \u2014 male and female.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"474\" data-end=\"649\">The Socialist Party has submitted 22 amendments that eliminate the terms \u201cinclusive\u201d and \u201cgender diversity,\u201d replacing them with clear wording that defines only two genders.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"651\" data-end=\"887\">In an official statement, the Council emphasized that this decision reflects respect for natural values and the fundamental principles of Albanian society, as well as sensitivity toward the country\u2019s cultural and religious traditions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"1121\">\u201cThe Interfaith Council of Albania values the dialogue, cooperation, and prudence shown throughout this process, considering it a positive example of institutional responsibility and care for the common good,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1123\" data-end=\"1380\">The statement concludes by reaffirming the Council\u2019s commitment to contribute to all initiatives related to the protection of human, social, and moral values, as well as to support sustainable development and Albania\u2019s integration into the European Union.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1382\" data-end=\"1594\">The draft law has been submitted to Parliament and, along with the Socialist amendments, will now be discussed in parliamentary committees.
