Former Prime Minister <\/span>Fatos Nano<\/span> has passed away at the age of <\/span>73<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nano had been hospitalized for more than three weeks in a private hospital in the capital, in critical condition.<\/span><\/p>\n

He had suffered <\/span>clinical death (cardiocirculatory arrest)<\/span> at his home and had been under medical observation for several weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fatos Nano was one of the most prominent figures of Albania\u2019s <\/span>post-communist democratic transition<\/span> after the 1990s.<\/span><\/p>\n

He led the <\/span>Socialist Party<\/span> from its founding, turning it into a major political force and later into a <\/span>governing party<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

During years of deep economic and social challenges, Nano served several terms as <\/span>Prime Minister<\/span>, leaving a mark on the country\u2019s reform processes and efforts toward stabilization.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout his career, Nano was recognized for his role in <\/span>modernizing Albania\u2019s left wing<\/span> and bringing the country\u2019s politics closer to <\/span>European standards<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Profile: Fatos Nano<\/span><\/p>\n

Fatos Nano was born on <\/span>September 16, 1952<\/span>, in <\/span>Tirana<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

He graduated from the <\/span>Faculty of Economics<\/span> at the <\/span>University of Tirana<\/span> and became involved in public life after the fall of the communist regime.<\/span><\/p>\n

In <\/span>1991<\/span>, he founded the <\/span>Socialist Party of Albania<\/span>, serving as its chairman until <\/span>2005<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nano served as <\/span>Prime Minister<\/span> of the country in <\/span>1991<\/span>, <\/span>1997\u20131998<\/span>, and <\/span>2002\u20132005<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

During his leadership, he sought to <\/span>strengthen democratic institutions<\/span>, <\/span>promote Albania\u2019s openness toward Europe<\/span>, and <\/span>stabilize the country<\/span> after years of political and economic turmoil.<\/span><\/p>\n
