The rising prices of eggs and food products are increasingly burdening the economic situation of families in Kosovo. Citizens say they face high prices every day, while incomes are not increasing, making daily life progressively more difficult.<\/p>\n
According to them, eggs and basic food items are essential for every family, and their rising cost is creating significant financial pressure. They note that prices have increased considerably \u2014 in some cases by up to 30 percent \u2014 while salaries and pensions remain insufficient to cover this additional cost.<\/p>\n
One citizen said that the rising prices of eggs and other food products directly affect families in Kosovo, especially in rural areas.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe prices have gone way up. I live in a village\u2026 It affects every family greatly because Albanians always prepare breakfast with eggs \u2014 we are a poor people, a large part of this population,\u201d one citizen expressed.<\/p>\n
Citizen Tafir Gashi emphasized that the increase in food prices, including eggs, is heavily burdening the public:<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course this affects us. All food products are very expensive. Salaries and pensions must increase, and prices should be lower while wages should be higher. We have no choice but to buy \u2014 we must buy eggs \u2014 but they are extremely expensive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Sabit Makolli stated that the price increase has reached up to 30 percent, making life more difficult for citizens:<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, we haven\u2019t noticed any decrease, only increases. Prices went up by 30%. There\u2019s nowhere to turn \u2014 we have to eat because these are daily necessities. It affects people a lot, especially pensioners who have low incomes, but it affects everyone. Prices must go down, and pensions and salaries must increase.\u201d<\/p>\n
Citizen Avdyl Kuleta said that rising prices are significantly affecting people, but they have no choice but to cope with it:<\/p>\n
\u201cIt affects us, but what can we do? I wish a government would be formed first, and then salaries could be raised. Prices have gone up and wages must rise.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS), in March 2025 the subcategory \u201cmilk, cheese and eggs\u201d recorded a price increase of 7.1% compared to March 2024.<\/p>\n
According to the Economic Bulletin, a pack of 30 eggs has reached a price of \u20ac4.20, while in some Prishtina markets it reaches \u20ac4.89.<\/p>\n
