In her remarks, Linda Rama focused on the role of technology in society, stating that it is no longer merely a tool, but a form of power that penetrates every dimension of human life.<\/p>\n
\u201cLarge technology companies are increasingly present in our lives and, at times, this worries me, because they hold a monopoly over us on a planet called iCloud, about which we know nothing,\u201d she emphasized.<\/p>\n
Linda Rama pointed out that this reality fundamentally challenges leadership, as technology creates new forms of intrusion into privacy, work, and even the human body itself, making complexity a permanent condition.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey can enter our homes through devices. They can enter our workplaces through computers. They can enter inside us, into our bodies, through mobile phones,\u201d she said, stressing that leadership must recognize and confront this reality.<\/p>\n
Rama also reflected on the year 1990, describing Albania as the last country in Eastern Europe to emerge from communism due to its extreme isolation. She recalled clearly what Albanians were demanding at that historic moment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI remember two slogans: \u2018freedom, democracy\u2019 and \u2018we want Albania to be like the rest of Europe,\u2019\u201d she said, emphasizing that society was clear about what it did not want, but not about what lay ahead.<\/p>\n
According to her, after the fall of the system, it became evident that the lack of preparedness was not only among citizens, but also among the new leadership, which lacked practical experience for such a radical transformation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey may have known it theoretically, but in practice no one knew what it meant for a communist country to exit one system and enter a completely different one,\u201d Rama said, adding that the transition was experienced as a harsh confrontation with everyday reality.<\/p>\n
At the Qatar Leadership Centre, Linda Rama also spoke about her personal experience during the years of transition and how uncertainty and the lack of answers pushed her toward a different path, away from Albania. She explained that at first she sought answers within the country, but without success.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would go from one environment to another, listen to the news, listen to my colleagues. No one could give me answers,\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n
According to her, the decision to study abroad gave her a deeper understanding of what leadership represents during times of major transformation, both then and now.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhenever there are times of great transformation, you are guided by dreams, not by knowledge,\u201d Linda Rama emphasized, adding that \u201cleadership driven by dreams and passion is much stronger than leadership driven by knowledge.\u201d<\/p>\n
