The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a meeting with local DP structures in Kombinat, where he expressed optimism about the opposition\u2019s prospects and criticized the governance of Edi Rama.<\/p>\n
He accused the current government of suppressing pluralism and attacking the opposition.<\/p>\n
\u201cGood evening and my warmest greetings to you, democrats, leaders of the Democratic Party structures in Kombinat, to all the citizens of Kombinat, Tirana, and all of Albania. A warm greeting as well to the central and local leaders of the Democratic Party present in this hall\u2014Madam Chairwoman, Mr. Klevis, Mr. Ilir, Andia, and everyone here.<\/p>\n
I have come to you today for a conversation that we must have with one another, and with every democrat, so that we understand and realize that today we truly stand at the dawn of a great transformation. Today, we are at the true dawn of an inevitable victory in its battles for the Albanian opposition. I am aware that you are rightly disappointed, tired, and discouraged; an undeserved 13-year opposition is exhausting. I am aware that the enemy we face respects no rules. But at the same time, I am aware and certain that together, today, we stand on the threshold of fulfilling our historic mission of saving Albania and Albanians from the narco-dictatorship, or autocratic dictatorship, which in many respects has destroyed and damaged Albanian society more than any other regime in the history of this country.<\/p>\n
The head of today\u2019s narco-executive, Edi Rama, has treated the opposition with the same morals, the same hatred, and the same hostility as his predecessors. Of course, this is no longer the era of totalitarian dictatorships where pluralism was banned by the Constitution, but today he uses every means to suppress pluralism and crush the opposition.<\/p>\n
Beyond the witch-hunt he carries out against opposition members\u2014their work, their businesses, and so on\u2014he does not hesitate to arrest and persecute opposition leaders, just like his forefathers. Over these 13 years, Edi Rama has destroyed the most fundamental institution of democracy, and of dignity as well: the free vote. He remains in power by plundering the vote. Through his ties to crime, he has placed drug cartels and serial killers on a pedestal, and together with his government officials and his family, he has established the most ruthless system of plunder that Albanians have known throughout the entire history of this country,\u201d Berisha said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
