The latest report by the Central Bank on deposit performance shows an increase in their overall level, with the majority of funds held in the local currency.<\/p>\n<p>According to the data, lek-denominated deposits stood at 711 billion lek\u00eb in December, up from 651 billion lek\u00eb in January, meaning that over a 12-month period their value increased by 60 billion lek\u00eb.<\/p>\n<p>More than one-third of the funds held in Albanian banks are in transferable deposits and non-maturity deposits.<\/p>\n<p>Transferable deposits, which are funds that can be used immediately by their holders, increased from 385 billion lek\u00eb in January to nearly 418 billion lek\u00eb in December 2025. Meanwhile, non-maturity deposits in lek\u00eb rose from 58 billion lek\u00eb in January to 66 billion lek\u00eb in December, while foreign-currency non-maturity deposits remained above 129 billion lek\u00eb.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The savings of Albanian citizens deposited in domestic banks reached \u20ac15 billion in 2025.
