The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, said during his address at the national protest in front of the Prime Minister\u2019s Office that Albanians have come together at a critical moment for the country.<\/p>\n
Berisha accused Prime Minister Edi Rama, describing him as an enemy of the country. He added that there is evidence regarding the May 11 elections, which he described as an electoral farce. According to him, Rama represents the most dangerous threat to the country, surpassing even the threats posed by Enver Hoxha\u2019s regime.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have gathered in our peaceful uprising at the most critical moment for Albania in the past 35 years. I must begin this speech with a quote that sounds more relevant and important than ever: those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it. We are blessed to have one another\u2014a vast sea of brave people who will stand up for Albania.<\/p>\n
We are also a blessed country for our magnificent traditions, preserved century after century. If Albania has been blessed with its people, traditions, and resources, it cannot be denied that we have also endured curses throughout the centuries. We have faced ruthless enemies who have inflicted great damage on our nation. We must never forget the dictatorship of Enver Hoxha and the crimes he committed.<\/p>\n
We must not forget the deepest isolation we experienced\u2014the severing of Albania from the family of civilized nations, its isolation from Europe and the democratic world. All of this stole 45 years of life from Albania, nearly half of the last century.<\/p>\n
There is no doubt that Enver Hoxha was a ruthless enemy; as Europe described him, he was the Albanian Hitler of the post\u2013Second World War era.<\/p>\n
Dear friends, we must not forget that the Party of Labor and Enver Hoxha, this ruthless enemy, ruled us for 45 years, despite his countless and monstrous crimes.<\/p>\n
But today, what is happening to Albania? If in the last century Albania was held hostage for 45 years, today\u2014at a completely different pace\u2014Albania is facing even more catastrophic consequences.<\/p>\n
For the past 13 years, these consequences have been eroding and destroying the very existence of Albanians as inhabitants of this country. Today, due to the unchecked plundering of Albanians by \u2018Ramaduro,\u2019 Brussels and the European Union are issuing the most ominous warning Albania has ever received.<\/p>\n
Never before has any other country faced such a warning\u2014the threat of restarting from scratch our 32-year journey filled with sacrifices, hopes, and dreams toward the European Union.<\/p>\n
Friends, we have called the \u2018Rilindja\u2019 an illegitimate government because that is exactly what it is. We have every document proving the electoral farce of May 11. We have called it a narco-state because that is what it is. We have seven resolutions in which the main political parties leading Europe and the world today agree with this fact.<\/p>\n
Yet we have been too soft. We have been restrained in our terminology. Because if one considers only the events of recent days, Edi Rama is in fact the most ruthless enemy of the present and future of Albanians in Albania.<\/p>\n
