The Committee on Legal Affairs reviewed and adopted the legal amendments in the justice reform package. After the deposition in the Assembly at the beginning of March, the Committee approved today the changes made on 5 laws and in the Criminal Code.<\/span><\/p>\n

Attending the meeting was also the Minister of Justice, Etilda Gjonaj, who said that following a revision and analysis over the functionality of the justice reform, the changes are intended to speed up the creation of the new institutions and avoid several problems encountered in the last few years.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cA sufficient amount of time has passed from the creation of the new institutions and we have analyzed the problems encountered\u201d, said the justice minister.<\/span><\/p>\n

Representatives from OPDAT and EURALIUS were also in the meeting and expressed their agreement over the changes, referring to them as \u201cnecessary\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been involved in the assembling of this entire package. The proposals have arrived from all institutions and we\u2019ve seen their efficiency and we\u2019ve seen that they were in compliance. We have set forth examples by other EU states and we can say that we support this package. We are convinced that this will improve the proper functioning of the justice reform package\u201d, said Agnes Bernhard from EURALIUS.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been involved in drafting the package. We have mainly worked on the changes for the law on SPAK and salaries of National Bureau of Investigation, but we\u2019ve also reviewed the entire package and we support the changes\u201d, said Konstatin Supios from OPDAT.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the approval of the six draft laws, there are another four legal initiatives, also part of the package, that affect the justice reform that will be discussed on Friday, in order to pave the way for their adoption in the\u00a0upcoming plenary session.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
