The United States<\/span><\/span> and Kosovo<\/span><\/span> are continuing to advance \u201cshared security interests\u201d and \u201cstrengthen regional stability.\u201d<\/p>\n

This was stated by the U.S. Embassy in Pristina<\/span><\/span> in a social media post following the conclusion of the visit to Kosovo by the U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis visit highlighted Kosovo\u2019s growing contributions to U.S. efforts to address global challenges and the importance of our cooperation through KFOR<\/span><\/span> and the National Guard State Partnership Program with Iowa. Together, the United States and Kosovo continue to advance shared security interests and strengthen regional stability,\u201d the embassy said.<\/p>\n

A day earlier, Whitaker held meetings with Kosovo\u2019s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti<\/span><\/span>, the acting president, Albulena Haxhiu<\/span><\/span>, and the commander of NATO\u2019s mission in Kosovo (KFOR), Major General Ozkan Ulutash<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

According to statements released by the offices of Kurti, Haxhiu, and KFOR, the focus of the meetings was security in Kosovo and the region.<\/p>\n

Kosovo has joined the International Stabilization Force for Gaza and is expected to deploy troops to the Palestinian territory. This force is a mechanism created as part of the Peace Board initiative, proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump<\/span><\/span>, aimed at achieving global peace.<\/p>\n

Kosovo is among the first five countries\u2014alongside Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, and Albania\u2014that have committed to participating in this mission, with the goal of providing security and monitoring the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n

The country also considers its alliance with the United States essential, a state that contributed to Kosovo\u2019s independence and state-building.<\/p>\n

Kosovo, which is in the process of transforming its Security Force into a full-fledged army, is also being equipped with American weapons and hosts the largest U.S. base in the Balkans, Camp Bondsteel<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

In addition to supporting the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force into an army, Washington contributes to the training and education of Kosovo\u2019s soldiers. The force participates in various training exercises with the U.S. military and maintains a close partnership with the Iowa National Guard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
