The U.S. Ambassador to Greece was in Tirana this Tuesday, where she participated in a ceremony marking Albania\u2019s inclusion in an energy agreement with the United States and Greece, worth $6 billion.<\/p>\n

The signing ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama<\/span><\/span>, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Enea Kakara\u00e7i, and the U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

During her speech,\u00a0Kimberly Guilfoyle\u00a0announced that two important agreements are being signed, aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and ensuring a more secure future for the Western Balkans. The project envisions a 20-year agreement in the energy sector, intended to supply Southern Europe with liquefied natural gas from the United States.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat an honor to be here in Albania, a steadfast partner of the United States and a country of extraordinary strategic importance for the Balkans and Europe, alongside our friend\u00a0Edi Rama.<\/p>\n

There are two important agreements being signed today, including a $20 billion liquefied natural gas agreement, which shows that Albania is playing an increasing role as a connector in the Balkans. This engagement strengthens energy security and national security.<\/p>\n

The memorandum of understanding to operationalize a key energy hub, including a gas plant, demonstrates the importance the Albanian government places on sustainable energy for the benefit of its citizens. In the energy sector, security and the economy go hand in hand.<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump has been a strong champion of energy security. The Trump administration has elevated it as a global pillar.\u00a0As we speak about regional strength, I want to acknowledge the importance of strong Albania\u2013Greece ties. They are more than close neighbors and economic partners. When the United States, Albania, and Greece work together, the entire region benefits,\u201d she said at the press conference.<\/p>\n

The Memorandum for the development of the Vlora energy hub and the Framework Agreement for the supply of liquefied natural gas were signed today at the Prime Minister\u2019s Office, as important steps toward diversifying energy sources and strengthening energy independence, in close cooperation with the United States, as well as through concrete interaction with neighboring Greece.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Enea Kakara\u00e7i stated that the partnership with the United States reflects a shared vision to build a secure and sustainable energy future, based on resilience and long-term planning.\u00a0\u201cA central pillar of this vision is the development of the Vlora Energy Hub, which is a multi-component project that will redefine Albania\u2019s role on the energy map,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
