Speaking at the joint meeting of the High Judicial Council and the High Prosecutorial Council, Minister of Justice\u00a0<\/span>Toni Gogu<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>warned that the justice system will be measured by the results it delivers for citizens, highlighting one of the main issues\u2014delays of up to three years in providing reasoned court decisions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThere is progress, but this is not enough. At the end of the year, we will be judged by what the citizen feels,\u201d the Minister stated. \u201cFor the citizen, justice is not delayed in the courtroom\u2014it is delayed when they do not receive a reasoned decision,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The Minister stressed that this issue must be treated as a priority by the system\u2019s institutions, suggesting it be included in the focus of thematic inspections for 2026\u20132027, in line with the Intersectoral Justice Strategy 2024\u20132030.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He also spoke openly about the challenges that remain in the system despite the progress made, acknowledging that during 2025 there has been improvement in the ethical and professional evaluations of magistrates, but emphasized that the current pace still falls short of expectations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
