Following the meeting of the Council of Ministers, Finance Minister\u00a0Petrit Malaj\u00a0and Minister of Education and Sports\u00a0Mirela Kumbaro\u00a0announced the latest government decisions, focusing on issues affecting the Albanian diaspora, fiscal policies, and the development of scientific research.<\/p>\n
Finance Minister Petrit Malaj announced the ratification of an agreement between\u00a0Albania\u00a0and\u00a0Poland\u00a0on social security, describing it as an important step for the social protection of Albanians living and working abroad.<\/p>\n
According to him, this is the 21st agreement undertaken by the Albanian government with countries hosting Albanian diaspora communities, and the 10th with countries of the European Union.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese agreements are very necessary, especially for those Albanians who work outside the territory of Albania and want their years of work in our country to be recognized,\u201d Malaj said, adding that the government remains committed to continuing similar agreements.<\/p>\n
Asked about a potential agreement with\u00a0Greece, Malaj emphasized that negotiations are intensive due to the large number of Albanians living there.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are confident that we will conclude such an agreement, but it is a complex process due to the conditions and the large size of the diaspora,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The minister also announced that the Fiscal Amnesty Package is expected to enter into force within May. According to him, the implementing bylaws are nearing completion and have been discussed in cooperation with international partners.<\/p>\n
\u201cWithin May, we will have finalized the respective processes and will come forward with all the implementing acts,\u201d Malaj stressed.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Minister Mirela Kumbaro announced the approval of the 12th implementing act under the law on science, thus completing the legal obligations related to Chapter 25 of negotiations with the\u00a0European Union.<\/p>\n
This chapter is related to scientific research and is considered one of the first expected to be closed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is very good news for the academic world and scientific research, as we are completing an important package that organizes institutions and research activity in line with European standards,\u201d Kumbaro stated.<\/p>\n
The minister also spoke about after-school programs, noting that they will be expanded to create more opportunities for students.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese programs have been running for about 10 years, and now we will expand the range of activities, including the Foreign Languages Olympiad,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Asked about a case shared on social media, where suspicious individuals were reportedly seen near schools in\u00a0Tirana, Kumbaro urged parents not to panic.<\/p>\n
She emphasized that security measures are in place and that cooperation with the police is strong.<\/p>\n
\u201cPatrols are present during peak hours, and we are increasing the number of security officers in schools for any reported concerns,\u201d the minister declared.<\/p>\n
