Ferit Hoxha<\/span><\/span> welcomed Ervin Ibrahimovi\u0107<\/span><\/span> to Tirana<\/span><\/span> this Tuesday for an official visit marking the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Montenegro<\/span><\/span>\u2019s independence.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

During the joint press conference, Hoxha described Albanian\u2013Montenegrin relations as a model of good neighborly relations in the region, emphasizing that over the past two decades the two countries have built stable political, economic, and regional cooperation.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlbania and Montenegro have built, through shared commitment, a true model of good neighborly relations and regional cooperation,\u201d Hoxha stated, adding that both countries cooperate closely as NATO allies and partners in the European integration process.<\/p>\n

The Albanian chief diplomat announced that he had proposed to his Montenegrin counterpart the reactivation of the intergovernmental \u201cGovernment-to-Government\u201d (G2G) meeting mechanism, with the aim of elevating bilateral relations and accelerating concrete infrastructure and economic projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cI proposed to my colleague Ibrahimovi\u0107 that we analyze everything we have achieved so far and explore what we can do more, better, and faster in the interest of our two countries,\u201d Hoxha said.<\/p>\n

He underlined that the focus of cooperation in the coming years will center on cross-border projects that directly impact economic development and the movement of citizens.<\/p>\n

According to Hoxha, priorities remain the opening of the joint border crossing point at Zogaj\u2013Skje, the construction of the bridge over the Buna River<\/span><\/span>, and the advancement of the Podgorica\u2013Hani i Hotit railway project.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an important mechanism for advancing concrete economic, infrastructure, and connectivity projects,\u201d the Albanian minister stated, referring to intergovernmental meetings between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Hoxha also highlighted the role of the respective communities in both states, describing Albanians in Montenegro and the Montenegrin minority in Albania as important bridges connecting the two nations.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlbania remains steadfast in ensuring that the Montenegrin minority enjoys all rights guaranteed by national and international law,\u201d he said, adding that he expects the Albanian community in Montenegro to continue receiving fair and proportional representation in institutional life.<\/p>\n

The European integration process was also a major focus of the discussions. Hoxha congratulated Montenegro on its progress in negotiations with the European Union<\/span><\/span>, stressing that every success achieved by Podgorica<\/span><\/span> is positive for the entire region.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlbania and Montenegro are today considered frontrunner countries in the enlargement process,\u201d he declared, adding that the process must remain based on meritocracy and concrete reforms.<\/p>\n

For his part, Ibrahimovi\u0107 praised relations between the two countries as excellent and said that Tirana and Podgorica share the same vision for the European future of the Western Balkans.<\/p>\n

He stressed the importance of strengthening economic and infrastructure cooperation, especially regarding projects related to regional connectivity and facilitating the movement of citizens and businesses between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Ibrahimovi\u0107 also stated that Montenegro strongly supports Albania\u2019s European integration, emphasizing that EU enlargement remains the strongest guarantee for the region\u2019s stability and development.<\/p>\n

Concluding his remarks, Hoxha emphasized that Albania and Montenegro will continue coordinating positions and supporting one another throughout the European negotiation process.<\/p>\n
