He also explained that prosecutors pursued 50,121 criminal proceedings, representing a 5.35% increase from the previous year. Of these, 27,077 were newly registered criminal proceedings, an 8.5% rise compared to 2024.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1161\" data-end=\"1344\"><em data-start=\"1161\" data-end=\"1333\">&#8220;Of the proceedings handled, 22,860 were cases carried over from previous periods, reflecting a 1.87% increase, while 184 criminal proceedings were reopened during 2025,&#8221;<\/em> \u00c7ela said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1346\" data-end=\"1600\">The report also included data on criminal referrals and complaints for which prosecutors decided not to initiate proceedings. According to the Prosecutor General, 16,276 such cases were recorded last year, marking a 20% increasecompared to 2024.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1602\" data-end=\"2116\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><em data-start=\"1602\" data-end=\"2103\">&#8220;The Tirana Prosecution Office recorded the highest number of proceedings, accounting for 36.62% of the total. It was followed by the Durr\u00ebs Prosecution Office with 9.5%, while Shkod\u00ebr, Kor\u00e7\u00eb, Vlor\u00eb, and Fier each represented around 7% of registered proceedings. The lowest numbers were recorded in Kuk\u00ebs and Dib\u00ebr, accounting for 2.45% and 2.38% of the total, respectively.
