For the 23rd consecutive day, starting at 7:00 p.m., citizens gathered on the \u201cD\u00ebshmor\u00ebt e Kombit\u201d boulevard in Tirana to protest against the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama.<\/p>\n
As on previous days, protesters first assembled in Skanderbeg Square before marching toward the government headquarters.<\/p>\n
Their chants echoed through the boulevard, including \u201cRama to prison, Berisha to prison!\u201d and \u201cRama, resign!\u201d<\/p>\n
The protesters\u2019 main demand remains the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government, while various citizens and activists continue to address the crowds during the rallies.<\/p>\n
This Monday, as the protest entered its 23rd day, organizers announced a new development by publishing the movement\u2019s five main demands. They were read out to demonstrators by former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) fighter Dritan Goxhaj.<\/p>\n
The first demand is the non-negotiable resignation of the prime minister and his government.<\/p>\n
Secondly, protesters are calling for the establishment of a non-partisan transitional technical government with a 12-month mandate.<\/p>\n
The third demand concerns constitutional changes to ensure that all Albanian citizens are equal before the law, with the proposed amendments to be approved through a popular referendum. These changes include reform of the Electoral Code, amendments to legislation governing the financing of political parties and various organizations, and a limit of no more than two terms\u2014whether full or partial\u2014for any individual serving as prime minister throughout their political career.<\/p>\n
In parallel, organizers are demanding the repeal of amendments made to the Protected Areas Law and the Cultural Heritage Law, as well as the abolition of the legislative package known as the \u201cMountain Package\u201d and the legal framework governing Strategic Investments.<\/p>\n
The fifth demand calls for the drafting of a new social contract between citizens and the state. According to organizers, this document would be prepared following consultations with intellectuals, technical experts, and politically independent citizens proposed by participants in the protest movement.<\/p>\n
After gathering in the square, protesters continued their march in a column along several major roads in Tirana, chanting \u201cRama to prison, Berisha to prison.\u201d<\/p>\n
