North Macedonia has recorded its first case of a patient suffering from a blood clot after getting the AstraZeneca shot. The patient is a 28-year-old woman and had gotten the vaccine a week ago in Serbia. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cUntil now there is one case recorded a 28-year-old girl that had a thrombosis after she got the first AstraZeneca dose in Serbia. She started showing symptoms about a week after receiving the shot and is currently being treated in hospital\u201d, declared North Macedonia\u2019s health minister Venko Filipce. <\/span><\/p>\n

Health authorities have suspended the administration of the AstraZeneca jab on people below the age of 60, following the footsteps of countries such as Canada and Germany. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve decided to be very careful therefore we\u2019ll wait for the final confirmation over the vaccine\u2019s safety. I will meet with the Agency for the Security of Medicines to exchange information and address our inquiries to EMA and Germany\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs\u201d, added the health minister. <\/span><\/p>\n

The country received its first batch of 24.000 AstraZeneca jabs from COVAX which will serve to inoculate citizens above the age of 77. <\/span><\/p>\n

Euronews Albania interviewed several citizens who said that the process is going well and they do not fear severe side effects. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI feel very good. I didn\u2019t have any bad reaction or anything like that. I\u2019m 79 years old. Everything has been organized as it should, what\u2019s left now is that we protect ourselves. If I have any reaction I was told to get some regular medicines for fever and nothing else. After 3 months I\u2019ll get the second dose\u201d, said a citizen we spoke to. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI feel very good, for the moment at least I\u2019m fine. They asked me whether I\u2019ve been sick recently and gave me some guidelines on how to protect myself in the following days\u201d, said another citizen. <\/span><\/p>\n

Another citizen we interviewed said that doctors told him to be more careful and keep wearing a mask. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very well. I was told that I have to take care of myself. I shouldn\u2019t drink alcohol, wear a mask and not go out a lot\u201d, explained another one. <\/span><\/p>\n

Rollout on citizens above the age of 77 is taking place across the country, while authorities are expecting the delivery of another batch by Russian and Chinese producers in the upcoming weeks, which will serve to speed up the process and continue with the immunization of other priority groups.<\/span><\/p>\n
