The European Parliament will probe into the Serbian government over claims that it is \u201cdelisting\u201d ethnic Albanian addresses from the Presheva Valley, Medvegja, and Bujanovc. The head of the Albanian National Council in Serbia, Ragmi Mustafi, said during an interview on \u201cBalkan Talks\u201d that the Presheva Valley must be included in the talks with Serbia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue to ask for our statute during the talks because you can\u2019t discuss for Kosovo and not leave our matter out\u201d, said Mustafi.<\/p>\n

According to him, the last elections in Presheva showed substantial political maturity.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresheva went into snap elections, but it showed true political maturity during these elections. The winning party was that who had won the previous elections, but the other parties will not be a part of the formation of the regional government\u201d, he explained during Euronews Albania\u2019s weekly show dealing with matters from the Western Balkans.<\/p>\n

Having multiple Albanian political parties, according to Mustafi, serves the Albanian cause because their ideas are helpful.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that they will know how to find a solution in establishing stability, something of vital importance for the commune of Presheva. We are a political factor and when needed, the United Valley came to life with a joint list and we have three MPs. But the race on a local level is even harsher and there are clashing ideas on what constitutes to the local welfare which has nothing to do with the stance towards the Serbian state\u201d, said the head of the Albanian National Council in Serbia.<\/p>\n

A major achievement from the past few days was the probe launched by the European Parliament over the deregistration of Ethnic Albanians in the commune.<\/p>\n

\u201cDiplomats are displaying interest on the matter and in the upcoming months, there will be an investigation launched by the European Parliament. The US Department of State released a report on discrimination and it is important that we are present on the table of discussions in Brussels as well as Washington. We will give evidence with concrete facts and documents\u201d said Mustafi.<\/p>\n

Raising the Albanian flag in Serbia is prohibited, but Mustafi said that this did not stop him from waving the flag landing him a lawsuit in court.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a case for raising the national flag, but we won\u2019t step back because it is not up to them to decide as this is a right of ours as a minority. Serbia is acting with double standards because it demands the rights of Serbian minorities, but it denies the same for the minorities in its land\u201d, concluded Ragmi Mustafi.<\/p>\n
