Over 100 citizens are stranded outside the “Mother Teresa” airport unable to travel following the decision of the air traffic controllers to go on a strike on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
With bags and suitcases, they are sitting on the sidewalks while airport staff are handing out water bottles.<\/p>\n
Passengers hope that the flights resume as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
Euronews Albania\u2019s journalists were at Tirana\u2019s International Airport, where citizens are anxiously waiting for more information on when their flights will resume.<\/p>\n
A woman with a small child said she had been waiting at the airport since 4 am.<\/p>\n
“We have been here since 4 o’clock in the morning.\u00a0We were told the flight was at 6:30, they postponed it to 12:30 and now we no longer have any information on when the plane will depart,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a woman who was going to travel to Bergamo in Italy, said that she had booked the ticket since yesterday, but 30 minutes before departure the flight was canceled.<\/p>\n
“They took us outside and said we will give you more information, and the information we were told was that the flights were canceled and we will be communicated by the agencies,\u201d another citizen said.<\/p>\n
She stressed that they will continue to stay at the airport until they receive accurate information, because her family is waiting for her in Bergamo, where she also risks of losing her job due to the delay.<\/p>\n
