During the first 2 weeks of August, a total of over 100 thousand citizens have been vaccinated in Albania. The data was published by the minister of health, Ogerta Manastirliu.

According to her, more than 60% of the population over the age of 50, is now fully vaccinated. Manastirliu also added that Albania has now received 1.8 million doses of the various kinds of vaccines including AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Coronavac and Sputnik V.

This amount is expected to suffice for 900 thousand citizens, if they are to receive both doses, as the necessity for a third vaccine is in the talks.

In total, since the beginning of the inoculation process in our country, 1,280,239 doses of the anti-COVID vaccines have been administered, according to reports published by the Ministry of Health. A total of 560,007 citizens have received both doses of the vaccine.

August will be the open month of vaccination for all age-groups over 18, offering them the chance to get the vaccine in any of the health centers or vaccination points that have been set up across the country, provided that they show an identity document.

For citizens that cannot leave their homes, mobile vaccination centers will be available all across the territory, providing vaccines for all Albanian citizens regardless of their place of residence.

On January 11th 2021, Albania began its vaccination campaign against COVID-19. To date, our country was secured 500 000 doses from the Pfizer vaccine and 1,114,000 from the COVAX program, which were achieved through an advance payment of 3.9 million US dollars.

The government has also been able to sign additional direct contracts, through negotiations with various other companies, including a deal with the EU, in order to maximize the amount of anti-COVID vaccines available.
