Isa Boletini, one of the most prominent figures in Albanian history, led uprisings for liberation from Ottoman rule and stood alongside Ismail Qemali during the declaration of independence in 1912.

Born in the village of Boletin, near Mitrovica, he participated as a fighter in the Albanian League of Prizren and contributed to the establishment of the Albanian League of Peja.

Boletini led battles against Ottoman, Serbian, and Montenegrin forces, always on the frontlines defending Albanian territories. He protested the decisions of the Great Powers to divide Albania at the London Conference in 1913 and organized popular resistance in Kosovo against Serbian-Montenegrin occupiers.

Isa Boletini lost his life on January 23, 1916, along with several family members and comrades, falling treacherously at the hands of Montenegrin chauvinists in Podgorica. His remains were returned to Kosovo in 2011, and today he is remembered as an enduring symbol of love and loyalty to the homeland.

His famous words, “I am well when Albania is well,” immortalize his patriotic spirit.
