12 foreign publishing houses have applied this year to the Fund for the Translation of Albanian Literature into other languages. The selection will then be made at the National Book and Reading Center (NBRC), where 6 of the foreign publishing houses will be the winners.
In this edition of the fund, publishing houses from countries beyond Europe also applied, such as the Egyptian publishing house “Al Arabi Publishing and Distributing”, which published in Arabic the novel “Waltz of Happiness” by the writer Ylljet Aliçka.
“Agamemnon’s Daughter”, by Isamil Kadare, has been translated into Russian by the publishing house, Ivan Limbakh Publications, while “The General of the Dead Army” has been published by the publishing house “Bora Babic”, in the Serbian language with the translation of the well-known Esad Mekuli.
After the approval of the financial support, the NBRC will sign a contract with the publisher. The full / partial funding of the translation provided by NBRC will be transferred to the publisher’s account.
