Elva Margariti has called 2022 the year of new initiatives for culture in the country.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, the Minister of Culture stated that in the past year, 3 initiatives have been undertaken, which she considers successful.

Among other things, Margariti showed the challenges and expectations for culture in 2023.

“It was a year of new challenges, new initiatives. This year, the Ministry of Culture has started three initiatives, which are the weeks of international cultures, which has brought us together with our partners to promote, not just foreign cultures in Albania, but all the interactions that we have, both on the political level, diplomatic, as well as economic, cultural and social. As we had the revival bonus, which is one of the most successful initiatives for the Ministry of Culture. In the first year alone, we had 100 applications, citizens who own an object in a historical center, not necessarily a cultural monument, and who want to restore it together with the state. The latest initiative is art in public spaces, the first time such an initiative has been developed. These 3 initiatives are a lot for 1 year, and they have been embraced well even though we are a small staff.

Just as we have new construction sites, this year finds us with the National Gallery of Art, which continues to be a site under restoration, it finds us with the concert hall of the Academy of Arts, nearing completion, everything is taking shape, it will be a good omen to start 2023 with a dignified concert in this concert hall. As you find us with the laying of the foundation stone of the new National Theater and the National Center of Culture for Children. This is another new space, which brings together many of the initiatives and philosophies of the Rama government, where children are a key element of the policy development of each ministry. As well as “Kinostudio” already, which is an open construction site, which is taking shape”, Margariti emphasized, among other things.
