22 Polish children who had come to Albania for vacation ended up in Vlora’s hospital with symptoms of food poisoning. In total, 41 were the number of tourists who had left by bus from the city of Shkodër, and after arriving in Vlora they traveled by a tourist boat.

Their health condition has stabilized while the law enforcement authorities have started to take the first legal actions for the case in question.

The National Food Authority carried out checks yesterday evening on the Karaburun-Sazan tour ship, on which the poisoned tourists traveled. Experts have taken samples of the food consumed by tourists to send them for detailed analysis to the central laboratories in Tirana. National Food Authority will start testing for salmonella, while it will take 3-4 days to get the results of the analysis.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Public Health has taken samples of the feces of children and people on board, which they are analyzing until an official conclusion to determine the cause of the poisoning.

It is learned that National Food Authority has decided to punish with an administrative fine, in the amount of 6 million old lek, the entity that operates the tourist ship in question due to “failure to meet the conditions for the preparation and storage of food”.
