On April 8, which is also the International Roma Day, important for this community is the awareness of society about the challenges faced by the Roma community around the world.

In the city of Korça, in the “Kulla e Hiri” neighborhood, a Roma and Egyptian community has been living for years.

Most of them suffer from the lack of a job, the respect of rights, but also the lack of a shelter to live in, as the conditions where they live are very difficult.

Avni Kallo, president of the association of this community, on the international day of the Roma, has once again asked for the support of the local government for this community, which during the last years due to difficult conditions have been forced to leave their city.

On a day like this, everyone should be together to protest, the head of the Roma association went further.

In the city of Korça, unofficial sources inform that more than 22 thousand residents of the Roma and Egyptian community live. Every April 8, the history, tradition and culture of this community is brought to attention.
