The COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on children and teenagers.

Four studies conducted by the World Health Organization in Europe have highlighted that 30% of the children belonging to the age group 11-15 years old have reported negative effects on their mental health, while 16% have experienced low life satisfaction.

Girls are more affected.

According to experts, 38% of girls and 23% of boys involved in the study have reported that the COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on their mental health and well-being.

Meanwhile, 17% of teenagers reported high psychological health complaints.

This increased with age, particularly for girls.

While 14% of 11-year-old girls reported such complaints, it increased to 31% for 15-year-old girls.

Regarding dissatisfaction with life, it is observed that it doubles with age.

The prolonged closure of schools has significantly affected the education of adolescents and added to the pressure of school on them.

The only positive effect is an improvement in relationships with family and friends as a result of close contact due to movement restrictions.
