36 years after his death, the well-known poet from Pogradec, Lasgush Poradeci, does not have a dedicated museum in his hometown, from which he also got his nickname.
Until today, well-wishers and visitors of the lake city, do not have a place to get to know his figure.
“We must step by step gather all the evidence related to this famous man. As we have time to gather evidence, facts, objects, interview people from positions that will later be an arsenal for the museum. Because it can become a museum but we have nothing for it. It is the moment that we are trying to create this museum, which is missing, not only in Pogradec, but everywhere in Albania” said Anastas Kostandini.
“The name of Lasgush Poradeci is the name of a man who is of great importance for Albanian literature, so he deserves a dedicated home. This issue has been raised in the course of cultural life, it was an initial effort in the time of communism, that initiative was left unfinished due to the fall of the regime, and today, moreover, it is a civic duty, I expressed myself in the presence of other people, of the world politics, I think Lasgushi’s house should be rebuilt, have its own museum and become a center of knowledge, of archiving his life,” said the teacher, Neli Naço.
Meanwhile, a citizen who has known him closely, expresses reservations about this oblivion.
“I say this to politicians of every brand and every wing, full of fairy tales, with your pragmatism that you use people, you think that you are mortal, and until you are like that, you must respect the great dead. Because the curse of oblivion will follow you too, but with a feeling of disgust, you will be remembered with disgust,” said Budjon Xhelo.
Asked by Euronews, the deputy mayor of the municipality, Paskalin Ziko, has informed that the local government has a project for the museum house of the well-known poet within the museum district where Llazar Gusho (Lasgush Poradeci) was born and raised.
“It is one of the most priority projects of the Pogradec municipality, the project has been completed in cooperation with the studios, financing has been secured, it is in the procedure for consultancy. It is part of a large project for the revitalization of the historical neighborhood, which also includes the house museum of Lasgush Poradeci. It will be a museum for the poet, accessible to local and foreign tourists, open to everyone,” said Ziko.
Lasgush Poradeci’s house is located in the “Toplec” neighborhood, one of the oldest neighborhoods of the lake city.
