The General Prosecution Office has announced that it is running investigations on a total of 38 proceedings, whereas 50 others have yet to be verified as cases constituting an electoral crime. The accusatory body has stated that the cases pertain to incidents that have happened before and after the electoral process of April 25th.
“Based on reports of the prosecutions of the general jurisdiction over criminal offenses in the elections field, for the pre-electoral period until May 7th 2021, it has come to our knowledge that the prosecution offices have registered a criminal proceeding for 38 denouncements of criminal acts connected to the elections and there are 50 denouncements that are still being processed for verification,” states the notice from the General Prosecution Office.
At the moment, there are 10 individuals, who are being criminally prosecuted on the basis of various offenses connected to the elections, out of whom 5 have been caught in the act and are now under arrest; whereas the security measure “house-arrest” has been requested for 4 other individuals and the request has been approved for 3 of them.
“During this period, Prosecutions of General Jurisdiction have received a total of 125 denouncements for criminal offenses in the electoral spectrum, out of which: 82 were filed in the prosecution office by political subjects/candidates, citizens or public institutions; 20 were referred from the judicial police and 23 have come through reports transferred to us from SPAK,” writes the notice.
