Kolonja remains one of the most popular tourist attractions in Albania, for the beauty it offers, the tradition, and especially for the cultural heritage that the region is known for.
From one year to the next, the number of local and foreign tourists has increased. Last year, the number of tourists and visitors doubled, all of this was due to the investments made in particular in the tourist villages.
The influx of tourists has increased the concern of the Mayor, who emphasizes that the number of accommodations remains low.
“We have slightly more than doubled from 2022 and more than tripled from 2021. I believe that next year it will be double the double and the concern I have is how ready we are to receive the possible number of tourists. We are changing our perspective. Not how to advertise so that people come to us, but how to go towards quality, increasing the number of accommodations. The number is there, but are we giving them what they need? “, said Erion Isai, the mayor of Kolonja.
Erseka, as well as many tourist villages, have welcomed nearly 28,000 tourists, while the number of visitors has exceeded 40,000.
