The Kosovo Police have arrested five individuals for violating voters’ right to freely determine their vote.
Four Kosovar women suspects were arrested in Zubin Potok on suspicion of calling a person and urging them to vote for a political entity, threatening to revoke their social assistance otherwise, reports KosovaPress.
This was confirmed by the Kosovo Police in their 24-hour report, stating that during a search at the Social Work Center in Zubin Potok, several items were seized as material evidence.
“As material evidence, during the search of the Social Work Center in Zubin Potok, a mobile phone and lists containing names and numbers of individuals suspected of being contacted for the same purpose were seized. In consultation with the prosecutor, after questioning, the suspects were taken into custody,” the police statement reads.
Additionally, in “Car Lazar” Square in North Mitrovica, another individual was arrested for allegedly telling someone that if they did not vote for a certain political entity, their daughter would be fired from her job.
“The suspect was arrested for allegedly telling the complainant that if they did not vote for a certain political entity, their daughter would be dismissed from work. As material evidence, a laptop and two phones were found and seized during a house search of the suspect. After questioning, the suspect was placed in custody by the prosecutor’s decision,” the statement concludes.
